FINAL MIX

This is what it ended up as. I changed all the text using some tasty fonts of the internet and made all the animation sequences the same. Music is a cut up sample of Vivaldi's - Concerto Fur Streichorchester und Cembalo G-dur Concerto For Strings and Harpscord in G major. Allegro. to give it un up beat feel. Fits quite nicely with the sequence. I added a pencil scribbling sound at the start to give the SBS logo a bit more life. I also made all the text uniform and added a few more credits along the way. I am much happier with the end product.

This film has the sequence I presented at the crit. It has the original score I did in Garage band. Based on Hayden's trumpet concerto I think. I just wanted to put some upbeat classical music to it.
Rvised tech drawing section of the eames segment.
I revised my eames section of the sequence and made it progress in the same way as the other ones.
This one was an early text experiment that I dropped into AE. After a while I was just doing them straight into AE rather than as separate files.

Eames stuff

Gehry stuff

All these are first versions of my animations before they were put into a sequence.

Oresund Bridge | Megastructures | Great-Engineering.com | Part 1

Titles roll 38 seconds in on this one. Its another example of structures forming. There is a feeling with all of these types of shows that the opening sequence will suggest that the show is going to show you the design process and construction of these great monuments to modern design. Not only will you see what the end product is but you will see how they get there. Thats what a design show is about and thats what the opening titles should suggest.

I love NY noise affter effect project

I really liked the way this one starts with the lines streaking across the page and words forming as the camera zooms out. I wanted to make my title text like this but I don't think I quite have the technical knowledge. I also really dug the way the buildings started to form and the NY skyline pops up. A good opening few seconds which I took note of when trying to come up with my title sequence.

Marc Newson - Sketches

Marc Newson's sketches are animated her to good effect. It is as though you are taking a journey through his mind as the sketches unfold in this sequence. Quite effective and taken from real life marc newson sketches. It appears to be done in flash or after effects and is simply yet dynamically animated to give you an idea of Marc's early design process.

I looked at this early on and it gave me inspiration into the way things could be simple yet effective by using different movement and scaling in after effects.

"Home Improvement" Season 3 Opening Credits & Season 1 Closing Credits

Home improvement is another older example of line drawing turning into more rendered objects as title sequence goes on. Despite being a bit off the mark it actually has a similar aesthetic in the opening few seconds to some of the stuff I am trying to do.

Grand Designs Live - Title Sequence

Opening title sequence to grand designs. A show about modern architectural homes which all have unique and interesting design. Title sequence is great because it shows houses building themselves up from the ground and rendering as the title sequence goes on. This was one of the first things I looked at when trying to come up with a synopsis for my show. I have tried to incorporate elements of this in my opening sequence.

Description: No building was more anticipated than Frank Gehry's stunning new museum in Bilbao, an industrial city in the Basque Country of northern Spain. Philip Johnson, the dean of American architects, declared it "the greatest building of our time," while Sverre Fehn, winner of the 1997 Pritzker Architecture Prize, called the building "fantastic." Gehry's use of nontraditional materials and his sensitivity to the environments of his buildings is legendary; his method of envisioning a building through semiautomatic drawings and handmade models is little known, but provides an immediate entry into his creative process. This book celebrates the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and details its design process, bringing to life one of Gehry's greatest achievements. Coosje van Bruggen, who has collaborated with Gehry on various architectural and art projects, documents the history of the Guggenheim Bilbao from conception through design and construction. With unique access to the architect and his studio, she uncovers scores of fascinating drawings and working photographs, published here for the first time.
